Short answer: Our Cassini sofa is a curved modular sofa with rounded arms, a low seat and removable, machine-washable covers. Its 45-degree wedge module lets you curve a sectional instead of turning a hard corner, and all of its seat modules are 26.4 inches (67 cm) deep with a seat height of 17 inches (43 cm). It comes in seven colours across two fabrics, Performance Chenille and Aquaforte Velvet, and it pairs with the Cassini lounge chair.
If you like a sculptural, low-profile sofa but your room is not large, Cassini is a compact way to get a curved sofa. The sections below cover how the modules fit together, the sizes to plan around and who the sofa suits.

What is the Cassini sofa?
Cassini is one of our modular sofas, built from separate seat, backrest and arm modules that connect without tools. You choose a layout, a fabric and an arm style, and you can add or rearrange modules later.
- Curved shapes: the arms and backrests are rounded.
- Low seat: the seat sits about 17 inches (43 cm) off the floor on 0.8 inch (2 cm) legs, and tilts gently backward.
- Removable covers: every seat, wedge, corner, arm and backrest module has its own cover, and the covers are machine washable.
- Frame and filling: a plywood frame with layered foam and polypropylene fibre inserts.
We do not make a sleeper or a storage version of Cassini. If you need either, our Atmosphere sofa offers both.
How does the wedge module work?
The wedge is what separates Cassini from a standard sectional. Instead of a square 90-degree corner, a wedge turns the sofa by 45 degrees, so a run of seats can bend gradually.
- One wedge between seats gives a gentle bend, as in the three-seater with a wedge layouts in our configurator.
- Two wedges side by side act as a corner and turn the sofa a full 90 degrees with a rounder shape than a square corner.
- Corner modules are still available when you want a conventional L-shape.
The wedge seat is 30.3 inches (77 cm) wide at its widest point.
What size is the Cassini sofa?
All seat modules share the same depth and height, so layouts line up cleanly. These are the module sizes for Cassini.
What size is the Cassini sofa?
| Module | Width | Depth |
|---|---|---|
| Armless seat | 26.4 inches (67 cm) | 26.4 inches (67 cm) |
| Corner seat | 26.4 inches (67 cm) | 26.4 inches (67 cm) |
| Wedge seat (widest point) | 30.3 inches (77 cm) | 26.4 inches (67 cm) |
| Left or right seat (with arm) | 30.3 inches (77 cm) | 26.4 inches (67 cm) |
- Seat height: 17 inches (43 cm).
- Backrest height: 27.8 inches (70.5 cm).
- Armrest height: 27.8 inches (70.5 cm).
- Leg height: 0.8 inches (2 cm).
Layouts run from a one-seater up to a six-seater, with or without corner or wedge modules. U-shaped layouts with two corners or two wedges are available in four-seater and six-seater sizes.
Which Cassini layouts fit small rooms?
Cassini is compact for a curved sofa. Our product page notes that an armless two-seater is approximately 53 inches wide and that a compact L-shaped layout fits within roughly 62.5 inches on each side. Arms add width, so measure with the arm style you plan to choose.
- Armless or two-arm loveseat: the smallest footprint, good for a studio, a bedroom sitting area or a window wall.
- Compact L-shape: one corner module gives a conventional square corner within about 62.5 inches on each side.
- Three-seater with a wedge: a gentle bend at one end softens the line of the sofa in a living room.
Measure the wall and the walkway first. Our guides to which Cozey sofa configuration fits your living room, sofas under 80 inches and how many modules you need walk through the sizing step by step.
How does the Cassini sofa feel to sit on?
The Cassini seat is medium-firm, with layered foam cushions, and it inclines slightly toward the back, which gives a relaxed, cradled position that suits reading and lounging. The seat depth is 26.4 inches (67 cm), and the low seat height of 17 inches (43 cm) makes the sofa feel grounded.
The backrest and arms also use a layered foam fill. Because every backrest is 27.8 inches (70.5 cm) high, the sofa looks low and even rather than tall. Our seat depth and height guide shows how this compares with our other sofas, and our sofa comfort guide explains firmness across collections.
What fabrics and colours does Cassini come in?
Cassini comes in two fabrics. Both are 100% polyester, and the covers are removable.
What fabrics and colours does Cassini come in?
| Fabric | Martindale rub count | Colours |
|---|---|---|
| Performance Chenille | 48,000 | Sage, Frost, Espresso, Bordeaux |
| Aquaforte Velvet | More than 200,000 | Chocolate, Aqua, Crumble |
- Performance Chenille is a soft, textured fabric. Our own assessment is that its pet suitability is good.
- Aquaforte Velvet has a velvet feel with water resistance and stain resistance, and our product page lists it as pet friendly.
- Swatches: you can order free swatches before choosing.
To clean a cover, wash it cold on a gentle cycle and air dry it. Avoid wringing, bleach and high temperatures. For small spills, wipe promptly with a damp cloth first. Our sofa cleaning guide covers stains by fabric, and the most durable sofa fabric for pets compares fabrics for homes with animals.
Does the Cassini sofa match the Cassini lounge chair?
Yes. Our Cassini lounge chair has the same curved design, the same seven fabrics and colours, and removable, washable covers. It comes as a swivel or a stationary chair, so you can place it beside a curved sectional and rotate it toward the room. Our Cassini lounge chair guide covers its size and base options, and pairing a sofa, accent chair and coffee table explains how to balance the pieces. If you choose a different colour for the chair, our sofa colour guide helps you mix tones.
Cassini or another Cozey sofa?
Cassini is about shape and a compact footprint. Our product page compares it with Atmosphere: in comparable three-seat layouts, Cassini is approximately 12 inches narrower and 4.5 inches shallower, while Atmosphere has deeper seating and storage and sleeper options. Both have medium-firm seating and removable covers. Our curved sofas guide and our comparison of all our sofa collections go further, and our Atmosphere sofa guide covers that collection in detail.
Our recommendation
- Small living room or condo: a two-arm loveseat or a compact L-shape, which our product page sizes at approximately 53 inches for an armless two-seater and roughly 62.5 inches per side for an L.
- A softer, curved look in a mid-size room: a three-seater with one wedge.
- Open-plan rooms: a sectional with two wedges side by side as a rounded corner, see our open-plan living room layouts.
- Guests or storage: choose Atmosphere, because Cassini has no sleeper or storage version.
- A deeper, plusher sit: compare Cassini's 26.4 inch (67 cm) seat depth against our Gaia and Ciello sofa guides before ordering.
