Short answer: The Cassini lounge chair comes with either a swivel base or a stationary base, and you choose when you order. It measures 37.0 inches (94 cm) wide, 31.3 inches (79.5 cm) deep and 28.9 inches (73.5 cm) high, with a seat 16.5 inches (41.9 cm) high and 22.6 inches (57.5 cm) deep. It uses the same curved arms, fabrics and seven colours as our Cassini sofa, so the two work as a set.
A lounge chair is a big decision for a corner, because the shape, the base and the fabric all change how the room feels. The sections below give the sizes, the base options and the care details so you can decide before you order.

Swivel or stationary: which base should you choose?
Both versions share the same seat, arms and backrest. The only difference is what sits under the seat. The Cassini lounge chair is offered with a swivel base or a stationary base, and the product page lets you pick between them.
- Swivel base: a powder-coated steel mechanism that lets the chair turn. It ships in its own box and is fastened under the seat base during assembly.
- Stationary base: the chair sits on legs under the seat base, fitted with anti-slip pads to protect your floor.
The swivel suits a room where the chair has two jobs, such as facing the television one moment and the conversation the next. It also helps in an open-plan space where you want to turn toward the window or the kitchen. The stationary base suits a corner where the chair faces the same way, or a room where you want the chair to stay put next to a wall or a side table. This is general advice, not a product specification: if you choose the swivel, leave enough open floor around the chair so the arms and backrest can turn without touching a wall or table. Our accent chair guide compares it with our other chairs.
How big is the Cassini lounge chair?
The chair is wide for an accent chair and has a deep, low seat. These are the measurements for both bases.
How big is the Cassini lounge chair?
| Measurement | Cassini lounge chair |
|---|---|
| Overall width | 37.0 inches (94 cm) |
| Overall depth | 31.3 inches (79.5 cm) |
| Overall height (top of backrest) | 28.9 inches (73.5 cm) |
| Seat height | 16.5 inches (41.9 cm) |
| Seat depth | 22.6 inches (57.5 cm) |
| Seat width | 29.3 inches (74.3 cm) |
Among our five lounge chairs, the Cassini is the widest and has the deepest seat. That makes it a good fit for people who like to sit back or curl up, and a less good fit for a very narrow corner. Measure the floor space first, and check how much room you want in front of the chair. Our sofa seat depth and height guide explains how seat dimensions feel in use.
Which fabrics and colours does it come in?
The chair comes in seven colours across two fabrics. Both are 100% polyester, and the fabric is OEKO-TEX certified.
Which fabrics and colours does it come in?
| Fabric | Colours | Abrasion resistance (Martindale) | Pet suitability (our own assessment) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Performance Chenille | Bordeaux, Espresso, Frost, Sage | 48,000 | Good |
| Aquaforte Velvet | Aqua, Chocolate, Crumble | More than 200,000 | Excellent |
Performance Chenille has a soft, textured look. Aquaforte Velvet is the more hard-wearing choice, and it is water-resistant and stain-resistant. If you have cats or dogs, or children who treat the chair as a climbing frame, Aquaforte Velvet is the safer pick. Our guide to the most durable sofa fabrics for pets goes into more detail, and our performance fabric guide explains what the term means.
Does it match the Cassini sofa?
Yes. The chair and the Cassini sofa share the same sculptural curved arms, the same two fabrics and the same seven colour names, so a chair in Sage next to a sofa in Sage uses the same fabric.
Does it match the Cassini sofa?
| Cassini lounge chair | Cassini sofa | |
|---|---|---|
| Seat height | 16.5 inches (41.9 cm) | 17 inches (43 cm) |
| Seat depth | 22.6 inches (57.5 cm) | 26.4 inches (67 cm) |
| Fabrics | Performance Chenille, Aquaforte Velvet | Performance Chenille, Aquaforte Velvet |
| Colours | Aqua, Bordeaux, Chocolate, Crumble, Espresso, Frost, Sage | Aqua, Bordeaux, Chocolate, Crumble, Espresso, Frost, Sage |
| Covers | Removable and washable | Removable and washable |
| Base | Swivel or stationary | Modular, with 45-degree wedge modules |
The sofa seat is deeper and slightly higher, so the chair feels more upright and the sofa more relaxed. For colour, two simple options work: the same colour on both for a matched set, or a deeper tone on the chair against a lighter sofa. Our sofa colour guide covers both approaches, and our pairing guide shows how to place a chair beside a sofa and coffee table.
Are the covers removable, and how do you care for them?
The covers on the Cassini lounge chair are removable. A seat cover and a backrest cover come in a separate cover kit, and they secure to the chair with velcro. Our product page lists the covers as machine washable for both fabrics.
- Washing: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and air dry. Avoid wringing, bleach and high temperatures to protect the soft texture.
- Spills: wipe spills promptly with a damp cloth before washing.
- Chenille: brush lightly in one direction to reduce shading, and avoid heavy moisture, which can flatten the pile.
- Aquaforte Velvet: avoid repeated aggressive washing, which can reduce long-term performance.
Other chairs in our range differ here: the covers on our Naos chair are not removable. Our sofa cleaning guide has fabric-by-fabric care steps.
How does it arrive, and how is it assembled?
The chair ships in separate boxes, which helps with narrow doors and stairs. The sizes below come from our product page.
- Box 1, seat: 30.7 x 23.6 x 19.7 inches (78 x 60 x 50 cm), 16.6 kg (36.6 lbs).
- Box 2, arms and backrest: 33.9 x 19.5 x 27.8 inches (86 x 49.5 x 70.5 cm), 22 kg (48.5 lbs).
- Box 3, swivel mechanism (swivel version only): 24.6 x 2.8 x 25 inches (62.5 x 7 x 63.5 cm), 6.5 kg (14.1 lbs).
- Cover kit: 22 x 16.9 x 14.6 inches (56 x 43 x 37 cm), 16.4 kg (36.2 lbs).
The backrest is built from three pieces: a left armrest, a right armrest and a backrest. You connect them, add the single cover, then attach the finished back to the seat base. Assembly guides are available for the chair and for the swivel base. If your building has tight turns, our measuring guide for stairs, elevators and doorways shows what to check. The chair is covered by our 5-year limited warranty.
Our recommendation
- Choose the swivel base if the chair sits in an open-plan room, faces more than one direction, or serves both the television and the conversation.
- Choose the stationary base if the chair lives in a fixed corner, you want it to stay planted, or space around it is tight.
- Choose Aquaforte Velvet if you have pets or children, or want the most hard-wearing fabric.
- Choose Performance Chenille if you prefer a textured look and everyday use is light.
- Choose the Cassini lounge chair over a narrower chair if you have about 37.0 inches (94 cm) of width and want a deep, enveloping seat. See our accent chair guide if floor space is limited.
