Short answer: The best value modular sofas are the ones where you pay only for the seats you need today and can add modules as your space grows. With us, a Gaia two-seater starts from $1,040 and a Ciello two-seater from $1,300, shipping is free, and a 30-day risk-free trial and a 5-year limited warranty come with every sofa. Put your money into the frame, the foam and the fabric, and save on size, extras and add-ons that you can buy later.
A sofa is the largest piece in most living rooms, so a low price only helps if the sofa still feels good in year five. The steps below show how to set a total, what to buy first and where cutting costs hurts.

What is the real price of a sofa?
Set one total before you compare sofas, and make sure each price covers the same things. A low sticker price can hide extra costs, and a higher one can include them.
Here is what sits inside our price and what does not, based on our live pages.
What is the real price of a sofa?
| Part of the price | What it covers on our site | Save here or protect it? |
|---|---|---|
| Frame | Solid wood in high-stress areas and sinuous springs, except Neptune, which uses a solid frame and D35 foam. Each seat is tested to 600 lb and rated for 350 lb in everyday use. | Protect it |
| Foam | D35 high-density foam, plus an extra 1.5 inch (about 4 cm) D35 layer in the Ciello and Gaia base | Protect it |
| Fabric | Choose by Martindale count and by who uses the sofa | Match it to your household |
| Covers | Removable on Ciello, Gaia, Atmosphere and Cassini. Neptune and Orian have fixed arms and bases | Worth paying for with kids or pets |
| Size and layout | Seats, arms, chaises, ottomans and storage modules | Save here: buy what you need now |
| Delivery | Free shipping with no minimum purchase | Not an extra |
| Assembly | You assemble the sofa, and setup time depends on the number of modules (see assembly time). Standard couriers leave boxes at your door or building lobby | Plan the time |
| Protection | The 5-year limited warranty is included. CozeyProtection+ is optional | Your choice |
Taxes are added at checkout. Scheduled delivery to your unit may be available in select areas for a small additional fee, and customers in very remote areas may pay extra shipping.
Start with the seats you need, then add modules
A modular sofa lets you buy the size you need now and grow it later, which is where much of the long-term value comes from. Our modular sofa guide explains how seats, arms, corners, chaises and ottomans combine, and are modular sofas worth it weighs the pros and cons.
The step from a Gaia two-seater to a Gaia three-seater costs $430 more in the lowest-priced fabrics ($1,040 versus $1,470), so you can see what one extra seat adds before you commit. Size first, though: measure the wall and the walkway with our sofa size guide, and use how many modules you need to avoid buying a seat you will not use.
If you want a matching room from one site, we also make lounge chairs, tables, washable rugs and living room storage. Buy the sofa first, then add the rest in the order you need it.
Starter set-ups and what they cost
These are our live product-page prices on November 6, 2026, in Canadian dollars. Each "from" price is the lowest price for that layout across the fabrics offered, and prices can change.
Starter set-ups and what they cost
| Starter set-up | Width | From | In Aquaforte Velvet |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gaia two-seater with two arms | 67.7 inches (172 cm) | from $1,040 | $1,100 |
| Gaia three-seater with two arms | 99.2 inches (252 cm) | from $1,470 | $1,595 |
| Ciello two-seater, Original arm style | 74.75 inches (190 cm) | from $1,300 | $1,450 |
| Cassini two-seater with two arms | 60.6 inches (154 cm) | from $1,420 | $1,490 |
| Orian one-seater sofa bed | 41.9 inches (106.5 cm) | from $1,030 | $1,105 |
Two things stand out. First, fabric moves the price less than layout does: Aquaforte Velvet adds $60 to a Gaia two-seater. Second, a sofa bed can be a small purchase: the Orian one-seater sofa bed is in the table above. Our Neptune sofa beds and Atmosphere Sleeper are the larger options, and their prices depend on the layout you choose.
Washable covers instead of a new sofa
Covers are a budget tool. When a sofa is stained or you want a new colour, you can replace covers instead of the whole sofa. On Ciello every cover comes off, and Gaia, Atmosphere and Cassini also have fully removable covers. A complete set of replacement covers can cost approximately 25% of a comparable new sofa, depending on the product and configuration.
Neptune and Orian are different: their arms and bases are fixed, and only the seat and back cushion covers come off on Orian. Our removable covers guide shows what comes off on each collection, and our washable sofa guide helps you choose for a busy home.
What protects your money after you buy
Your first protection is the trial: you have 30 days from delivery to return a product for free, as long as you repack it in the original boxes. Without the original packaging, we may decline the return or charge a fee of 15% of the order value.
Your second is the 5-year limited warranty, which covers defective parts but not damage caused by use, and we send the defective parts rather than a whole module.
Your third is optional. CozeyProtection+ covers accidental damage such as spills, stains and tears for 3 years on sofas, sectionals and sofa beds, but not accent chairs. Tiers are $95 for seating up to $1,000, $140 from $1,001 to $1,500 and $190 from $1,501 to $2,000, then $50 more for each additional $500, and each replaced module or part costs a flat $49. A Gaia two-seater at $1,040 falls in the $140 tier. You can also pay over time with Affirm, and checking whether you qualify is a soft credit check.
Where refurbished fits
Our Certified Refurbished page lists products that were returned during the 30-day trial, then tested and inspected, and it sells them at a reduced price. Stock changes, so check the page before you plan around it. It suits a flexible budget, but it is not a guaranteed route to a particular layout or colour.
What not to cut
Three things decide how a sofa ages, and they are the worst places to save. The frame and foam are covered in how long our sofas last: frames are designed for 20 years or more, and a sofa is built to last 7 to 10 years or more, up to 10 to 15 years if you swap cushions, covers or modules.
Fabric is the third. The Martindale count measures resistance to rubbing, so a higher number means more wear resistance. Our fabric guide has the full list.
What not to cut
| Fabric | Martindale | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Aquaforte Velvet | More than 200,000 | Our most durable fabric, and the one we rate Excellent for pets |
| Aquaforte | 78,000 | Excellent stain and water resistance |
| Performance Textured Weave | 54,000 | Used in colours such as Mocha and Cerulean |
| Performance Chenille | 48,000 | We rate it Good for pets |
| Corduroy | 15,000 | Choose it mainly for texture and look |
Pet ratings are our own assessment. A household without pets or small children can choose by look and price, while a busy home should lean toward the top of the table. Our free swatches let you test colours at home before you order.
Questions to ask yourself before you buy
- What is my total, including protection, extra modules and taxes?
- Can I start with fewer seats and add more?
- Which parts of the sofa can come off and be washed or replaced?
- What is the Martindale count of the fabric, and who will use the sofa?
- What does the warranty cover, and for how long?
- What is the trial period, and what must I keep to return it?
- Will the boxes fit through my doors and stairs?
Our recommendation
Choose by the room and the household.
- Small room or first apartment: a Gaia or Cassini two-seater, then add a seat when you move.
- Soft, deep seating: a Ciello two-seater, with fluffing every one to two weeks.
- Kids or pets: the same sofas in Aquaforte Velvet, which adds only $60 to $150 on the layouts above.
- Guests: an Orian one-seater sofa bed, or a larger Neptune or Atmosphere sleeper if you host often.
Spend on the frame, foam and fabric, and leave extras for later.
