Frequently asked questions
The Cozey Foam Mattress is a 25 cm (10 in) medium-firm, all-foam mattress with no coils. Under the quilted cover are 5 cm (2 in) of Serene® comfort foam, 5 cm (2 in) of high-density transition foam and 15 cm (6 in) of high-density support foam. The comfort layer contours to your body and the support foam keeps your spine aligned. Standard fitted sheets fit.
The Cozey Foam Mattress is medium-firm, around 5.5 to 6 out of 10, slightly softer than the Cozey Hybrid (6 to 6.5). The dense foam core absorbs your weight evenly, so you settle slightly into the bed rather than lying on top of it. It suits side and back sleepers who like a cradled feel. It comes in one feel, so it is not the right pick if you need a soft or very firm bed.
Yes. The Cozey Foam Mattress is the Cozey mattress that absorbs the most motion: its high-density foam core takes in movement where it starts, with very little bounce and no noise. That means a partner getting up early is less likely to wake you. It suits couples where one partner is a light sleeper or the other tosses and turns. Couples who sleep hot may prefer the Cozey Hybrid.
It works for many warm sleepers, but the Cozey Hybrid sleeps cooler. The Cozey Foam Mattress uses Serene® comfort foam, which is not temperature-sensitive and, in Carpenter Co. lab tests on foam samples, released heat 18% faster than memory foam in the first 30 minutes. A solid foam core still breathes less than open pocket coils, so if you regularly wake up warm, start with the Cozey Hybrid.
Yes. The Cozey Foam Mattress was designed for side and back sleepers. Its 5 cm (2 in) Serene® comfort layer lets shoulders and hips sink in: in Carpenter Co. pressure mapping on 5 cm (2 in) foam samples, Serene® had about 20% lower average shoulder pressure than memory foam (19.2 vs. 24.0 mmHg) with a person on their side. It suits side sleepers who like a close, cradled feel.
No. The Cozey Foam Mattress uses Serene® foam, a polyurethane foam developed by Carpenter Co. that feels close to memory foam but is a different material, built with microscopic air capsules. In Carpenter's lab tests on 5 cm (2 in) foam samples, Serene® rebounded about four times faster than memory foam (about 20% vs. 5%), so rolling over takes less effort, and it showed no detectable temperature sensitivity, so it does not firm up in a cold bedroom.
In Cozey's durability testing, which simulates 15 years of nightly use, the Cozey Foam Mattress lost less than 6% of its firmness. That means it should feel close to how it did in year one for a long time. It is backed by a 15-year limited warranty that covers visible, permanent indentations of 2.5 cm (1 in) or more on proper support; normal softening and changes in comfort preference are not covered.
The Cozey Foam Mattress is rated for up to 113 kg (250 lb) per sleeper. Above roughly 104 to 113 kg (230 to 250 lb), most people get better long-term support from a thicker or firmer mattress built for that load. For sleepers within that range, its 15 cm (6 in) high-density support foam keeps hips from sinking too far for side and back sleeping.
The Cozey Foam Mattress ships rolled in one box with a handle, 112 x 44.5 x 44.5 cm (44 x 17.5 x 17.5 in) for every size. The box weighs 24 kg (52 lb) for a Full, 28 kg (62 lb) for a Queen and 33 kg (72 lb) for a King. Unroll it on your bed base, cut away the plastic, and it is ready to sleep on in about 30 minutes; full shape takes 24 to 48 hours.
On the Ara Bed, the Cozey Foam Mattress sits directly on Ara's black powder-coated steel frame and 15 mm laminated veneer lumber (LVL) slats, spaced about 5.7 cm (2.2 in) apart on Queen and King, with no box spring needed. For another platform bed, follow that frame's instructions. Cozey does not state adjustable-base compatibility, so ask the Customer Happiness team before pairing it with an adjustable base or a specific foundation.
Yes. The Cozey Foam Mattress is made in a manufacturing facility in Toronto, Ontario, with domestic and imported materials, and designed by Cozey in Montreal. Its cover is woven in Canada from imported threads. Every foam is CertiPUR-US® certified, tested for formaldehyde, heavy metals, phthalates and VOC emissions, and the mattress meets the Canadian mattress flammability standard (CAN/CGSB-4.2).
Yes. The Cozey Foam Mattress comes with a 100-night trial with no minimum number of nights. If it is not the right fit, Cozey schedules a free pickup and gives a full refund, and you do not need the original box. You can also exchange it for the Cozey Hybrid during the trial if you want more bounce, airflow and edge support. Returned mattresses are donated whenever possible.
Yes. Every Cozey store carries samples of both the Cozey Foam Mattress and the Cozey Hybrid, so you can feel the layers side by side, and most stores have one of the two mattresses on display. Which one is on display varies by location, so if you want to lie on the Cozey Foam Mattress, check with your nearest store before you visit.
Choose the Cozey Foam Mattress if you want the least motion transfer and a close, cradled feel; choose the Cozey Hybrid if you sleep hot, change positions often or sit on the edge of the bed. Both share the same 5 cm (2 in) Serene® comfort layer, transition foam, 15-year limited warranty and 100-night trial. The difference is the core: the Foam Mattress has 15 cm (6 in) of high-density foam (25 cm / 10 in tall) and is slightly softer, at 5.5 to 6 out of 10 vs. 6 to 6.5.
The Cozey Hybrid Mattress is a 30.5 cm (12 in) medium-firm mattress with Serene® comfort foam over individually wrapped pocket coils. Under the quilted cover are 5 cm (2 in) of Serene® foam, 5 cm (2 in) of high-density transition foam, 15 cm (6 in) of pocket coils inside a foam edge rail, and 2.5 cm (1 in) of base foam. Standard sheets fit; choose fitted sheets with pockets of at least 30.5 cm (12 in).
The Cozey Hybrid Mattress is medium-firm, around 6 to 6.5 out of 10, slightly firmer than the Cozey Foam Mattress (5.5 to 6). The Serene® layer takes pressure off shoulders and hips, while the pocket coils push back as you move, so you lie on top of the mattress. It suits side, back and combination sleepers. It comes in one feel, so it is not the right pick if you need a soft or very firm bed.
Yes. The Cozey Hybrid is the Cozey mattress to choose if you sleep hot, because 15 cm (6 in) of open pocket-coil space lets air move through the core. Its Serene® comfort foam is not temperature-sensitive and, in Carpenter Co. lab tests on foam samples, released heat 18% faster than memory foam in the first 30 minutes. Serene® has no gel or active cooling: it avoids trapping heat rather than cooling you.
Yes. The Cozey Hybrid has a 7.5 x 15 cm (3 x 6 in) high-density foam rail around its pocket coils, so the edge does not collapse when you sit on it. You can sit on the side of the bed to get dressed and sleep closer to the edge without rolling off. It suits anyone who sits on the edge of the bed, and couples who want to use the whole sleep surface.
Yes. The Cozey Hybrid was designed for side and back sleepers. Its 5 cm (2 in) Serene® comfort layer gives shoulders and hips room to sink, and its medium-firm pocket-coil support keeps the lower back from sagging. It suits back sleepers, and side sleepers who switch positions through the night, because the coils make rolling over easier. Lighter stomach sleepers can do well on it; heavier stomach sleepers may want something firmer.
No. The Cozey Hybrid's comfort layer is Serene® foam, a polyurethane foam developed by Carpenter Co. that feels close to memory foam but is a different material: microscopic air capsules give it its contouring feel. The Cozey Hybrid ships rolled in one box with a handle, 112 x 47 x 47 cm (44 x 18.5 x 18.5 in) for every size. It weighs 27 kg (59 lb) for a Full, 32 kg (70 lb) for a Queen and 39 kg (86 lb) for a King; plan on two people for a King. Unroll it, cut away the plastic and sleep on it after about 30 minutes; full shape takes 24 to 48 hours.
